Coffee Filter Holder comparison - for V60, Cone, Chemex, AeroPress paper filters

When a pour over coffee becomes a part of your life, you swiftly realize that something needs to be done to make the process smoother. Because taking out a coffee filter paper from its package every time you want to make a cup of coffee makes it less enjoyable. Especially in the morning.
Here’s where the coffee filter paper holder comes into play. Luckily, the market now has lots of variations to choose from. But today we are going to compare 3 models that I’ve created for myself in the first place.
What unites them is that they are made of 2 mm thick steel with powder coating. So that they are built to last and pleasant to take. And you can store at least 2 different coffee filter types and sizes.
Basic v60 coffee filter organizer - Creature
Model Creature is the most versatile since it is designed with ergonomics in mind. And can be used from the smallest 01 filter size up to #4 and even Chemex square filters.
Though, it’s best to store small coffee filters here, like cone shaped 101 and v60 01, 02 sizes. Because that way you can lift it from the top, which is a part of design.
It has a small footprint (13 x 10 cm) and narrowing at the top to be easily grabbed if needed. While a wide base allows it to be stable with any filters.
Compartments for filters have a special incline to make the process of separating filters and taking just one easier. And they’re wide enough to hold up to 30 filters in each compartment but not too wide so that even one filter sits securely.
But the biggest pro of this model - shipping weight. Which allowed me to offer free shipping (to the US, Canada, EU).
AeroPress coffee filter holder - Mr. Heavy
Inheritor of the similar shape in terms of dimensions, Mr. Heavy offers an additional cell for an AeroPress (including XL) or Cafec Deep 27 filters.
The design here is more “square” and “neutral”. Which definitely will fit in any coffee corner. And at the moment it’s available in white and black colors.
Chemex filter holder - Samurai
After using Chemex I found that the cardboard package is nicer than a plastic bag, but still not that smooth to take out the filters from. That’s why there is another model - Samurai, which is specifically designed for big filters - starting from v60 02 size up to Chemex Square.
It is bigger than predecessors but allows to have a more balanced look and fit more filters (40 in one cell and around 20 Chemex filters. So it’s 80 cone filters or 40 Chemex filters total).
Dust
I’ve designed an open construction to have good ventilation. Some may think that they need to be covered from the dust, but that’s what we inhale anyway. And frankly there is not much surface to be affected by it.
I personally am against closed constructions because of the nature of the filters - they attract moisture. And if there is no air circulation - it could simply transform to a mold growing box.
That way we have an easy access and smoother step when making your coffee. Because the process mostly starts from the filter.
